Locale Support

Keeping with the spirit in which WinMerge was created, I decided one day to diddle with UI localization using resource DLLs.  That effort, combined with the gracious contributions of several good people, enables you to use WinMerge in your own native language.  At the time of this writing, language DLLs are available for German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Czech, and French.  If you would like to add your language to the list, just let me know.  Also, check the WinMerge Home Page for new additions.

Note that WinMerge currently does not support Multi-byte languages such as Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, etc...

Configuration

In order to change the current UI language, you must do the following:

  1. Download the desired language DLL from the WinMerge Home Page.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file into the same directory where WINMERGE.EXE is located.   Note that the language DLL has a .LANG extension.
  3. Run WinMerge
  4. Select Language from the View menu
  5. Select your language and click OK

Note that the WinMerge UI instantly updates to the selected language.
