    Good idea.

I think in addition to having links in the text, it would be good to list important links so they are easier to find.

Where did you pick that "This means everybody can..." -paragraph? I think it is OK (I may have written it, can't remember) but needs a bit more clarification if we put it in web page.

And which links? I think at the Open Source Definition, the GPL and maybe the OSS Wikipedia entry?

    > Where did you pick that "This means everybody can..." -paragraph?

From our "Help Needed" Wiki entry:
    http://winmerge.org/Wiki/Help_Needed

And yes, I think you wrote it! :)

Hmm. These might be enough. As the Wikipedia has then more links and info.

I'm just thinking that WinMerge might be the first OSS software the organization uses and therefore we must be a good example too. :) And promote the idea with offering links for more information.

That's why it sounded so familiar. The problem is that page is for developer audience (people interested in developing WinMerge) but the homepages are for normal users. So I don't think the tone is really proper for homepage. Users are interested about downloading and using binaries. Very small percentage of users might be modifying our sources...

Is it true we really don't have any "usage conditions" written anywhere for users.. That's bad and we really need this doc you are creating then. And we need to write the text carefully. We can't promise too much or give wrong impressions.

Hmm. Perhaps its best you commit this text as is and start new thread in forums or devel-mailing list.

Just repeating myself that this is important we tell users what they can do with our binaries. And we need this info in manual too. And perhaps in some other docs too.

Committed to SVN (In Revision ) and put online <http://winmerge.org/about/license.php>.

I will start a tread thread about "usage conditions" in the dev forum
